    Tarps and Bridges.....

I am curious to know what anyone thinks is the minimum sized tarp to use on a JRB Bridge? I am in the tarp buying phase of my spring purchases and was leaning towards a MacCat Deluxe in SpinnUL. With the width imposed by the spreader bars I am curious this tarp big enough to allow you to get in and out of a Bridge easily when deployed? I have hung in it and love it but have yet to have a tarp over it!!

    Love to hear opinions!

The JRB 10X11 fits it beautifully. A rectangular tarp (with or without cat-cut edges) gives better head and foot coverage around the spreader bars than a tarp with deeper corner cutaways. Whatever tarp you have, you can do creative things with grip clips to improve the situation. Also, you can get in and out without having the bridge tip on its side and poke the tarp. Just imagine you're entering a canoe in the water.

Just got a Grizz Bridge )))))) Thankee to Grizz.
Been using my Speer Winter Tarp. I have pull-outs on mine ... the ones on the sides.
Ol' Shug would recommend getting a tarp with side pull-outs ..... to clear those bridge spreader bars.
Warbonnets and the Backwood Dreams have them.

I have a JRB BMB and use the JRB 10x11 and it is the perfect size.

I have a Mac Cat Deluxe I used to use with my HH EUL, I'm pretty sure it would not cover the outboard rings, which when covered act as drip rings.

I suggest the pole mod or side pull out for a bridge.

I use a 14x 10 tarp for my bridge. 14' is too long for me and I wish the width was more like 11 or 12 feet. I would suppose a 11x11 or 11x12 will be my next tarp

I used a 10x5 tarp for 5 days on the foothills trail in August, and through some pretty severe thunderstorms I stayed completely dry. It required some innovative site selection, but will work if you are trying to save space/weight.

    Bridge with blackcat tarp

Here is my DIY bridge with a "blackcat tarp". I know.. it's not black, but it has the same dimensions. 12' ridgeline.

The bridge hammock is 82" long (down the center), 36" head spreader, 30" foot spreader.

In the following pictures the bridge hammock is centered under the tarp to the best of my ability. In the first picture you can see where the head spreader pokes the tarp when unoccupied. When occupied, the hammock sinks down some and the spreader bar no longer makes contact with the tarp. You could always pitch the tarp flatter or hang it higher to fix this.

The second picture is another attempt to show the coverage at the head end.

I am not sure if I am comfortable with the coverage. My concern is blowing rain coming in at the head or foot end. What do you guys think?

That looks like quite sufficient coverage to me. You could always add a poncho or beak to one end of the tarp though, if you needed.

    Fantastic looking BlackCat, BTW.
