Footbox and bugnet on my DIY camo

So I have my hammock done.....well that is except for the bugnetting. I used the camo from sclittlefield's group buy and made a double layer 1.1z.

My hammock dimensions are (raw measurements) 68" wide by 132" long.

I have bug netting and at first thought about making a separate bug net to go over my hammock. Now I would really like to sew it on as part of the hammock with a zipper on one side.

I will have a length of nylon attached along the bug net on the side with the zipper, then the zipper will attach that to the hammock and have pullouts attached to the bug net (think BB)

I clipped it on a couple of different times (without pullouts) and have noticed the the net tends to bunch up quite a bit when I lay diagonally for a flat lay. Is this normal?

Would adding a footbox alleviate some of this? How much do the pullouts play into this?

I have read headchange4u's post on sewing on a bug net, but not sure I have all the info I need for my situation.

For those who have successfully attempted this......any thoughts?

I to am using the same fabric. Just finished the DIY-Sil n the tarp. Now back to my hammock.

I kept mine at 68" too which is seems huge. I have a lot of loose hammock edge and am defiatley going to have to tie it out. (I wanted to anyway)

I am about to do the netting. Haven't totally decided on the way I am going to attach it yet. I like your approach but not totally sold on the permanent bug-netting.

What made you decide to go that route?

It seems to me the best way to go would be to pin and cut the zipper side first. Attach zipper. Zip up the one side and have an assistant hang and do another measurement on your permanent sewed in side. Then cut and sew that side.

Are you going over your structural ridgeline with the netting?

Pics of the end result please. Good luck!

I thought the same thing about pinning and sewing the zipper side first.

I didn't want to carry another piece of gear (though very minimal weight) and as you noted, 68" leaves a lot of material hanging around, so I wanted the option of staking it out.

I have a double zipper that would extend the entire length of one side of my hammock so I could roll it over to do some star gazing.

I plan on having the bugnet lay over the RL (which is attached to each of the gathered ends via whoopie slings).

What are you planning on doing?
