Would you consider camping hammock as a gift for Father's day?

My father is an outdoor adventurer and I was looking for a gift this coming June. This article https://www.toolazine.com/gift-ideas-outdoor-man/ just give me an idea that a camping hammock might be a good present. But, it's hard to find a model that suits him because there are lots of hammocks. I have seen net hammock and castaway hammock. I find it very refreshing, especially when windy but quite not sure if those hammocks are durable. Are those types of hammock really sturdy? Any suggestion?

That would be a great gift. You could always buy a gift certificate from a cottage vendor and let him customize his own!

    Hi
lovely idea for him, but That would be my suggestion as well gift voucher and let your father enjoy choosing his own.most of us hangers are really picky when choosing , and make a few mistakes along the way

If you do want to buy him a hammock rather than a gift certificate, I recommend you stick to one of the preferred vendors on this forum.
If he tries it and it doesn’t work out then the resale value will be high.

My recommendation would be to get him something like a Dutchware Netless hammock with a strap suspension...https://dutchwaregear.com/product/11...ss/#suspension
Pretty simple and straightforward. He could then just focus on getting a good hang.
Second option would be to get a cheap one on Amazon. You can get a whole rig for under $40.

One of the best deals out there for a good start is the Ridge Outdoors hammock. It is an 11 foot hammock with a completely removable bug net suspension and storage sack for under $50.00 and is available at their website or Amazon.

What a gift, potentially a lifetime of those sublime moments when you settle in to that perfect cloudlike lay knowing you'll have best night of sleep ever in the woods.

Do know that it doesn't end with a hammock. A healthy and costly obsession with tarps, insulation and various cordage and suspension doohickeys is almost guaranteed.

I started down the hammock rabbit hole by getting a hammock for my daughter as a gift. So yea I recommend one as a gift. I went to a hammock hang to help determine which one to get - course that’s tough right now. I’m with others on getting a gift certificate to one of the main vendors on here and letting them pick.

There is so much personal preference I'd be scared to buy something for a person that is already into hammocks. If they have no clue, then go for it or get something else camping related like a stove or cook kit. With my wife and gifts, I try to keep track and write down stuff she mentions through the year. We kinda give each other hits and say, "Oh, man. That's neat. I'll have to look into getting something like that." She's surprised me with a watch and L.L Bean clothing in that way.
