    Square Tarp Seam

If you make a square tarp, would it work to have the seam go corner to corner or would that be too much stress on the seam.

I found some coated material at my local Wally World, but not enough to make two tarps unless I can take the seam corner to corner. That seems(haha) inadvisable.

There's about 10 yards 60" wide. I need at least one tarp. Would like two. What's the most efficient way to use it?

    Thanks.

JRB's 8x8 are corner to corner and I've never had a problem with mine. I've hung it with the seam both parallel and perpendicular to the hammock. Actually, I never seamsealed it and went thru some decent rains with it in both configurations, and it hasn't leaked on me that I could tell.

I know a place here in Minnesota that sells colorful tarps that have seams all over the place. I think that people worry too much about where to have them and what forces are on them. Any decent seam will stand up to a fair bit of abuse and pull in any direction. You probably won't be out in hurricanes anyway, so feel free to make the tarps anyway you see fit. HYOH. MYOG.

As long as it's not cuben! But that's why they have bonding and tape, I guess.
