Is the campground open this time of year? By the looks of things, it seemed quite empty. I know Memorial Day weekend is busy, do they reserve sites? I would like to do a trip with kids (son and nephew).

@ oms, It was open, only ten sites were occupied when I was there. We have camped there several times in the past. Not jam-packed ever, except for the big holiday weekends...Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day. Typical. I think this sudden warm weather caught some folks off gaurd. When I pulled in there was only one car at the mountain bike trail, when I pulled out, there was around 25-30 cars there.
@questtrek, To answer your questions.. Big fire pits at all the sites, I don't have a specific date....yet. Tons of trails for day-hikes, (I figured on using this as base camp, people can come and go as they please, explore, fish, boat, etc., and visit at their leisure).
There is a Large Group site with room for up to 25, but....of course, NO TREES!! Just a big empty field?
Let's get this MI HANG rolling, so folks can plan, if we debate the whole summer long, we will never make it happen! No matter what date we pick, someone won't be able to attend.
Logistically, this site is centrally located, to most members. Offers the neccessary amenities (parking, water, vault toilets, space for a larger number of people, trails, varied interests, etc.)
I say lets DO IT! And what happens, happens. We can always move the MI HANG next year, if folks so desire.
Ambulo tua ambulo.
I like the camp ground idea. If it works out Ill bring my family. Of course they are all ground dwelling bottom feeders.

Make it so Number 1.
I ride a recumbent.
I like to HAM it up on the CW.
I use Linux.
I play go.
Of course I sleep in a hammock!

Hang On!
I think we should do Yankee Springs in June sometime if we can and then look to a fall hang further north on the NCT along the Manistee. I might do some short hikes this summer up there and scout a bit. Now we just need a date. I have a commitment the weekend of the 18-20th.

June 11-12-13?
Ambulo tua ambulo.
Works for me, beat the summer crowd perhaps.

I can probably do the 12th and 13th.
I can most likely do the dates suggested by Gargoyle.
Canobie - if you get the chance check out the "Pine Plantation" area on the NCT side of the river. I didnt get the best look at it last summer, there was another group camped there, so we moved along.
