I think that splicing the fixed eye and the tail end creates a much cleaner finished product, but it's certainly not necessary.

Nice videos - its always good to see the same thing described in a different way. Or actually done slightly differently from how someone else does it. Videos show things still pictures can not and vice versa.

I noticed that you have rope tree huggers.

Are they working OK for you?

If they are damaging the bark on your trees, I recommend Strapworks.com

They have some simple slings for around $8 each (1 1/2" wide poly straps with 4" eyes on each end and 5' long) or they can custom make what you want.
