everyone, I am a new hanger and need some advise on how to sleep in my doublenest ENO. I used it this past weekend at Cloudland canyon state park and had a great time with it. But when it came time to sleep in it I had a hard time finding the sweet spot, which I never did. Is there some sort of trick that I need to learn? Help me fellow hangers. your my only hope.
How were you trying to lay? Down the middle or diagonally?
I find the diagonal method to be the most comfortable for me. Simply put your head on one side of the center line of the hammock and your feet on the other. However, there is more to it than just that. The "sag" of the hammock (how it droops) is very important in relation to comfort and the real problem is it differs from person to person. It's something you have to learn what works best for you. A good starting point is to be sure your suspension lines are coming off the tree/post at an angle of about 30 degrees. From that point you can make minor tweaks to find the best amount of sag for you. If on the other hand you are a down the middle sleeper, a tighter rig (less sag) is generally preferred.
There are many worse ways to spend a day than playing with your hammock to find the most comfortable way to sleep.

do you know what your sag angle was? did you add/use a ridgeline?
After you find best position, pillow under knees or stuff sack with some clothes put under knees helps too.

Most folks using gathered end hammocks put a RL on after they find the adjustment- whether more sag or less sag(looser vs tighter adjustment between the trees) that is most comfortable for them. That way, next time they go to hang, they just pull it so that the RL is somewhat tight, and then they automatically have the same amount of sag they had last time.
I have never added one to my Speer or Claytor No Net. I just don't seem to need it. Especially with the Claytor it just doesn't seem to matter much, I can hang it fairly tight or quite loose and I am still OK. But most folks swear by the RL.
Can you give any specifics as to exactly what the discomfort was? If you can, it will be easier to suggest solutions.
