For quilters who are often cutting large sections of fabric, they use a cutting board and a rotary cutter. you could cover the surface of the work table with this cutting board, it has the very helpful lines and measurements on it. you may have to get several boards to cover the surface but it become invaluable if you do different projects. these items are available in most fabric stores.

Was perusing through the DIY section and came upon this fairly old thread.
JoAnn Fabrics has a cutting table on wheels that folds...It often goes on 50% sale, or you could use a coupon.
Check out the pattern area of the store (or even online) as twice a year they put out their Fusion magazine and the back page has two 50% coupons and ab six 40% ones. Spring one should be out soon.

As a younger man I always dreamed of having one acre under one roof. But now in my old age with my changing of hobbies and never wanting to get rid of anything, I believe it is folly to think that anything less than forty acres under one roof would be suitable.

Think Big.
Also, think Cheap.
You can get reclaimed 25 and 40 foot insulated steel shipping containers for pretty cheap.
Slap a couple of those together and you're good to go.
(Don't tell the neighbors it was my idea... who cares what they think anyhow )

If you have to ask, you're not likely not redneck enough for it
Seriously though they aint that bad to move around. Make some skids, weld up a couple of axles (convenient mounting points on each corner!). Move them in winter when the ground is hard.
Very useful and very inexpensive (all things considered). Can get into them for under 2K each. We import so much stuff in this country and export nothing... so we wind up with an excess of cargo boxes. Go figure.
