Bankhead Boy suggested McDougal Camp

McDougle is a clean hunters camp with a nice block outhouse. The camp was open a few days ago when I passed by, but Cranel road was not. The only negative is the traffic from the big trucks is loud so if you go there bring earplugs. I’m not going to camp this time I’ve got family things going on. I will try to run by and see you guys on the way to see my brother. Jim if you go and it’s raining you can take the big tarp if you want? Have fun!

Hopefully the road will be cleared by the end of the week. I'll bring a canopy.
It looks like I will be able to come up on Thursday or Friday. My brother will either come with me, or join me there. McDougal sounds like a good plan B. We were in the area yesterday and it looked like Brushy was open as well. I know there is a fee for camping there, but it would be quiet. Just another option.

Hi All,
I'm hoping to come too. It will be the first time to hang with others and I have plenty of questions. Especially regarding getting the most of an under quilt. But, have to say I am concerned with socializing these days and not sure if others are ok with sharing food etc? Hopefully next time will be different. Any issue with bringing a well behaved dog?
BTW/ spent several nights in the Sipsey week before last, before the winter storm. First trip ever in a hammock and it was really nice but, there was plenty of "live" fall even then. Seems its been a hard year on the Sipsey with a string of tropical storms and now the snow storm. I am used to having to skinny over an around trees on the trails but took this picture to share with my daughter because it really took the cake: there really was not a any other way then over this jumbled pile of trees (think it may have been on the private land near the needles)

Plan B. Camp Mcdougle.
Just north of cranial road on Hwy 33
McDougle Camp

I hear it's close to the highway so trucks noise may be a concern. Bring ear plugs.
How big is it?
Will it support our large crowd?

I'm thinking about making the Journey from the Carolinas. I'd prolly hitch a ride with Cajun. Any tips?
"Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters.”

I will reach out to the ranger station this morning and report back.
