I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
Is there anyone planning on being there on Thursday?
Yup. Not sure I'll be camping CV2 the first night, but I will be passing through on Thursday then probably up the spur to the Sycamore Trail and back around counter clockwise to CV2 on Friday. Thinking of trying to drop down off the ST to find a couple trees overhanging the valley for a night(look for lights up on the ridge) then finally show up in CV2 proper on Saturday. Keep the fire burning. Looking forward to grilling some sausages on a stick!

I've camped up on the ridge NW of camp a few times near an old road. A little pond for water too. And of course, piney
Just keep a look out for the old aerodynamic ( bald ) guy who looks lost. Of course I can always set up my hammock by the trail and wait for someone to tell me I am lost. And I am never lost, I am just exploring in a new direction.Once you turn at campsite 2 and start following the creek, it'll be at least a 10 minute hike from there back to the group hang site. So just keep looking for a big open clearing and it's just past that in the woods.
About 430+ miles. I moved to the NC mountains last fall and I have been taking my time moving stuff from our house on the NC coast, the drive from our house in Murphy NC to Beaufort NC is 530 miles.but I'm not driving near as far as you.

Hi neighbors. Thinking of heading down from SE MI for this since that area has some of the best mountain biking trails.
Q: How is the parking at the TH? I have a small class B RV but it's still 21 ft long. And I'm guessing plenty of tree options?
thanks for the feedback.
Plenty of trees.
The parking lot can get very congested by the weekend and there is no camping allowed @ the trailhead.
CV2 is within the Deam Wilderness Area. The Sycamore Trail, which CV2 is off of, is one of the few open to foot traffic only. Practically every other TH along Tower Ridge Road is classified as MU-multiple usage. Bikes, Horses, Hikers.
Don't let that discourage you. MU trails run right up to the fire tower and all trails west of Terrell Ridge are good to go for bikes. CV2 is only about 1.5 mile hike to the East from the same parking lot.
Hope to see you guys. Enjoy the woods!
