    The Peace river

Planning to multi-day kayak/hammock camp the Peace. What I'm concerned about is our vehicles.
We're putting in at hwy 60 outside Bartow. Anyone know about safe places to leave the rig for a few days in that area?
Still figuring out what we want to use as a take out location, so may be asking about that location as well.
We have enough vehicles that I'd rather not pay for a shuttle if possible.

None of you Florida hangers kayak this river? It looks like it has the potential for some nice "wild hangs" along the route.
Did decide that we're taking out at 37 miles/ Pioneer Park, so hopefully we can leave a vehicle there for a few days.

Maybe take a Lyft back to our put-in?

It's been on my radar. Don't know much about it. Know they fossil hunt when water is low. Interested what you come up with.

Well this didn't happen. Our shuttle/paddling partner couldn't make it due to family health issues and then the water level dropped 3' below the level needed for the section we were planning to do. Not that we could change the dates for our visit.
So it's been postponed until fall and we just hit a few shorter days trips.

This has been on the bucket list for me also. Most east parts of the Peace River are private ranch land and allow camping. There are maps that show available camping areas.

I have used the following vendor for a day trip an liked their services. They do allow parking on their property for a fee and also provide shuttle services to various put ins on the peace River.

What maps do you have? I've been using the ones from FDEP. According to those maps, the northern section (that we were going to do) is mostly a river corridor that is conservation land. I do see that once you get a bit farther south it starts to be private.
I'm happily a map freak, so if you have access to other maps of quality I'm interested.

We did look into using that outfitter but they were pretty pricey and pretty far south for what we needed. Being that we were starting w/ two vehicles, and have a long history of doing our own shuttles, it was more than we wanted to spend on transpo and parking.

Please post if you plan this trip again.

Planning to attempt it in the fall. It's supposed to be better water levels for kayaking in the fall and better for fossil hunting in the spring. We were just hoping that we could catch it before it went down too low and we didn't have to wait a year, as we started planning it last fall.
