How do you like the Bridge Hammock?

Bleemus, I'm looking at the JRB Bridge hammock because it looks so comfortable to lie that flat and I've got a bum back/neck. Have you slept in other non-bridge style hammocks and if so how does the comfort compare?

Looking at the JRB Bridge Hammock I was thinking that the Velcro would be a pain. What a great mod! I'm planning to buy a hammock this week and if I go with that bear I think the I'll have 2QzQ do the mod! How long did it take to get your JRB and then how long did it take for the mod?

    Happy Hangin!

The only non-bridge hammocks I have slept in were Mexican string hammocks a long time ago and one night in a Hennessy Exped Asym. I would give a slight thumbs up for the Bridge over the Hennesy because of the pad pocket really makes it a no brainer to stay cozy and warm. Actually feel of lying down is pretty similar with the Bridge being flatter than flat which the Hennessy gets close to but not all the way. Dealing with pads in a Hennessy is a pain in the arse.

If Bridge hammocks seem to need a pillow, what about sewing the bottom into a rising step at your head end ?

You are right. This mod truly made this hammock great. I have a Blackbird in 1.0 coming as well just because I am a gram weenie and need to shave some ounces but think I will always keep the Bridge because it is sooooo comfy. Unless of course someone offers me a ULA Ohm for it. Otherwise you will have to pry it out of my cold dead hands!

Hi Bleemus, I have a HH 2QZQ mod #3 and it makes all the difference. I like the "lay flat" character you speak of in your JRB Bridge - can you please comment on side sleeping and fetal position as I do love my pillow and am more of a side sleeper than on my back.

    Thx,

    Javaman

The Bridge is a wonderful hammock but not for a full fetal sleeper. I can draw my knees up slightly but not much more and for me that is fine as I am a back sleeper especially in hammocks. The Bridge rocks for comfort and a flat lay. I am geting a Blackbird in 1.0 only to save grams on my upcoming thru hike but will keep the Bridge for my girlfriend and myself on other trips.

    Hope that helps!

It does, thx. Sounds like side sleep = ok but not fetal. That may be fine for me. Did you do the Amsteel bar lines yourself? If so, care to comment on how you did it?

I did the whoopies myself. Two whoopie slings, one on each end, and then two legs of amsteel with locked brummels on each end to replace the legs that split to go to each spreader bar end.
