Top quilt recommendations and advise

Thank for the opinions offered. I decided to go with a 40° Burrow. I also grabbed a $22 Microfiber fleece bag liner off Amazon. I figured in most cases when I hike, the burrow should land right in the sweet spot. If the temps drift up into the 60+ over night temps I can leave the burrow home and take the fleece liner. In the event that the overnights might drop into the 40s or a bit lower I can bring both the fleece and the Borrow. The combo should help me stretch the late spring early fall seasons.

Great choice and sounds like a decent plan. Remember TQ temp ratings are affected greatly by UQ ratings. With a 40/20 insulation kit + proper base layers and such below freezing is very doable. I did 17 at one point for a night, wearing all my clothes and a puffer, but no wind.

I don’t plan on doing any cold weather overnights. But, the vast majority of my trips will be in the Whites so night temps in the 40s wouldn’t be a surprising thing to encounter. So my target is 50-60 with ability to reach to the low 40s high 30s if I had to. If at some point I plan a trip that I know will be low 30s or lower I will probably just invest in separate cold weather quilt combo. Gotta leave room and reason to buy more gear. What’s the fun in a perfect one size fits all setup?

Not sure I'd ever go into the Whites with a summer kit. But you live there and certainly know better.

And you are right what's the fun of owning only one set of gear
