I own the Ridgerunner, the Banyan and the REI. The REI is an interesting design but WAY too short to get a diagonal lay. I use it for kids to hang in. The Banyan and Ridgerunner are very very similar in their design and lay. The major difference for me that makes the difference is the dual ridgeline in the Banyan. Like you, I have also noticed that the ridgelines appear to be slightly too long to get a taught pitch with the right hang angle. I had not considered using the carabiner trick from Shug to tighten the ridgelines and may have to try that on my next hang. Maybe there's another strategy I haven't considered but that seems like a decent enough solution. I really like both the Ridgerunner and the Banyan, but until I can solve the ridgeline problem on the Banyan, the Ridgerunner is what I'll be using more often.
