    WTB: Synthetic UQ 3/4-1/2 length

Yup so I am looking for a synthetic UQ 3/4-1/2 length, I am down with ugly first try DIY projects from someone...etc. I am so not picky!

Pretty much cheaper is better for me since ill like be selling plasma and/or blood or collecting cans and scrap metal for this item!

Are you backpacking or car camping? I have a really (REALLY) ugly sleeping bag-UQ mod that I don't use. It's good for down to about 40 degrees, I'm guessing... I used it lower with a space blanket. it's full-length.

It's heavy, but you can have it for the shipping costs...

If you let me know how long you want it, I could cut it down and sew on a channel and loops... You'd be on your own for suspension (i.e. heavy shock cords.) It'd take me 3 weeks to get done, but it'd work.

The real issue with this sleeping bag is that it doesn't gather well at the ends. I ended up cutting darts (long triangles) out of the ends in an attempt to compensate, but it doesn't fit perfectly... It works, it just isn't great...

    Here's another option: Make a "no-sew quilt:"
2 layers of fabric, 1 piece of batting (choose your loft), some shock cord, maybe grosgrain loops...
You make the fabric about 6" longer and wider than you need, and sandwich the insulation in the middle. Then cut 1" strips toward the middle. You then tie the two layers together with dozens of square knots. It's cheap, you don't have to sew, you can fake an end-channel by just running some shock cord on each end, and tie shock cord to the corners for suspension...

You can find fabrics at WW for $1.50/yard, and a twin bed sized piece of 1/2" batting is like $10-$13... so for a 2/3rds quilt, you'd need 3 yards of fabric and batting. This would result in a workable summer quilt... add some insultex or a space blanket in the layers, or more batting and it'd be warmer... Unfortunately, batting isn't as warm as climashield, and it's heavy and bulky.

    Here's an instructable: http://www.instructables.com/id/No-S...ece-Blanket_1/

You can use just about any fabric...

    Good luck.
