I usually just let the doors flap in the wind. One of my tarps has cam snaps on the doors that I can use to snap the doors together ( with some exceptions ). On the other tarps I just stake out each door so it overlaps the other. So far I have only had to close off one end of my tarps and I always do the head end and exit the foot end.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Given a choice, I put the head end into the wind or side into the wind if lucky with tree layout. I then tie the head end doors together with shock cord and use one stack to to the ground. The other end I use two stakes. I stake one side "closed". The other side I stake down in an "open" fashion for ease of entry/exit.
