Lololol....That's awesome! My Border Collie doesn't like it or doesn't trust my hammock. She prefers a nice big rock to keep a look out.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll let everyone know what we end up doing. Cheers!

    I just love that!

Instead of a lot of PM's David can share it on the forum? Please?

    Awesome work guys!

I have had a few dogs over the years, currently playing Dad to
    a Staffordshire Terrier.

Most of my dogs have loved the Cloth Mex style hammock I keep in the backyard, although they generally have to be helped in as I pitch pretty
    high off the deck.

Will let you know how the DIY hammock holds up once its done and tested.

Might have to make a couple of smaller ones for the kids and the pup!
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives.

Irish Setter, double layer DIY Hammock...no problem

    Hi everyone,

first post. love the forum. especially the whole "open-source" of the DIY-projects. Got a lot of inspiration from that....now to the topic on hand...my Irish-Setter-Girl (23 kg) only wants to be in the hammock when she gets to cold, usually at around 4C...then she stands next to my hammock whines a little and I lift her inside...she normally stays for 3-4 hours or until dawn and plays radiator..then her protecting instincts take over and she needs to be outside and keep watch and I lift her out, or she just jumps. Claws don't seem to be a problem at least I couldn't detect any wear-off.
The thing I noticed being out with the dog as compared to be out by myself is that no curious wildlife is coming close.

Must be a Border collie thing,
My 4yr old male with his high predator drive stands guard all night.
It can get quite interesting where a high Deer and bear population exists.

Sam does the same thing. She sleeps very little when I'm sleeping in camp. That's a great friend to have in bear, mountain lion, coyote, or wolf country.

I had an opossum come walking through my camp at 2am Monday followed by a very large coyote at 9am. She about had a fit. Of course the opossum plays dead, I get her to "leave it", and then 15 minutes later the opossum starts moving again. I was ready to kill one of them! If the $h!T had hit the fan I would have had a nice fat opossum for breakfast and a coyote for lunch.

Opie, which of your many upscale hammocks are you using in the photos?

You're in the banana position, which is what made me discount the Clarks. Is this your normal sleeping position or do you go diagonal?
