Exped Hammocks -- Any of you heard of this company?

A guy at my local outside store showed me a potential mat to insert between the layers of a hammock, it is downfilled and inflatable to 3.5 inches. Not sure if that would be too thick, but either way it seems like a really cool mat. Packs down ridiculously small.

I was browsing the website and turns out they produce a hammock!

Anyone heard of them or from the spec's can tell me if it's anything special?

Lots of folks (like me) have their downmats...very good pieces of gear. I've seen their hammocks on the website only, and never in person. They looked a bit heavy so I didn't order one. If you get one, be sure to post pics and results!

The mats are really nice and warm. If you must sleep on the ground they are the way to go. They would keep you warm in your hammock to well below freezing. Don't know anything about the hammocks though.

I dunno, at 20 oz it's not too heavy.

Three things I don't like about it:

1. Where's the price? Is it free?
2. Looks like it isn't a full length zipper entry. Hard to tell and not that big of a deal, but still...
3. Exped chose to make the first 'hammock' image you see one of a hammock on the ground in bivy mode. Just ain't right!

So really only one legitimate gritch (zipper).

Ditto on what everyone has said. I've never used their hammock but I do have the Downmat 7dlx and it is very warm, very big, and very comfortable.
Since I'm a new hanger I can't speak about them for hanging but from the ground dwelling standpoint they are awesome. Excellent product but in my opinion since I have the full size deluxe model it's a little on the heavy side.

Wow. Exped actual publishes the spec on the waterproofing of their tarp material! That would be a nice trend to see throughout the industry.

There's no way to tell without touching it, but the Scout Hammock Combi looks like it might be a decent hammock. It's a double-bottom hammock that weighs 6 ozs less than the Hennessy Deep Jungle. I'm pretty sure I could add a ridgeline for less than 6 ozs.

Variations in set-up: Sleeves at both ends can be used to slide in a stick or bar making the hammock wide and flat.

I would really like to know what the heck they're describing there. It just might be very cool.

The zipper is full length. Exped says "A generous zipper runs the length of the hammock simplifying entry and exit of Scout Hammock Combi."

None of the usual suspects in the US (Campmor, Moosejaw, etc) have it but it's between £99 and £110 from several places in the UK.

Tarp and guy lines weigh that much. Whole thing is 61 ounces.

Tarp + guylines: 550 g / 19.4 oz

From what I can glean, it may not be available here in NA, as if you select the Canadian option it doesn't even list it as a product option... Then again, Canada's only half of NA, so the states might have it distributed.

I'd be nice if someone had experience with it, it'd be a little odd to just dive in and hope it works out okay... There's not a lot of talk about suspension, bit it also does say it has channels to place poles or sticks to make it hold it's shape.. I guess similar to a bridge?
