Anyone using a Trail Winder UQ?

I recently came across the (new?) Trail Winder under quilt:
    https://simplylightdesigns.com/colle...winder-asym-uq
What really intrigues me is the modular 2nd layer of insulation.... You essentially get one underquilt in some Climashield rating, and then a 2nd snap-on quilt when you want to stack the two for colder weather. Has anyone tried this yet? With the asymmetric insulation it seems to cut down on weight substantially vs a taco style underquilt and the flexibility to snap on an extra layer of underquilt when needed seems like it would be pretty handy. I'd be extremely interested to see who has tried this or if I will need to be the guinea pig

SLD products seem to be pretty well thought out. I don't think you'd be taking a big risk. Hopefully someone with experience can confirm re this particular product. The modular version does seems to be a quite recent option.

Hope there is a typo there - that link takes me to the search page with "No results found"
I've been reading some posts about SLD; seems like a decent company in general.

I'm a major fan of SLD. I have a non-moduler version of the Trailwinder and it's the only UQ I haven't modified.
It seems like this is a good mod that's keeping up w/ the current trend.

I've got a 20* trail winder and love it. I had no idea about this updated version - I am very intrigued.

I don't doubt this would be a great buy

I have a Trail Winder 40 UQ and am very happy with it. I was thinking of modifying mine with Kam Snaps to add another DIY panel of insulation for AZ winter use. Apparently great minds think alike.

Mine is on order.. I have the TL and Jared is currently building a tarp and modular UQ. Primary is 40* and secondary is another "snap on" 40* I plan to test this out soon after I receive them and in time will probably provide a full review with pictures.

I am still a hammock noob, this is my first hammock setup, however I can't say enough good things about Jared and how he works with you to customize your setup.

Thanks to some suggestions here on HF, I went with SLD for the hammock. I did not know if I was a right or left lay so at his suggestion, got the hammock first and tried it out a couple times and determined I am head left feet right (right lay) Then worked with him on a custom tarp order with partial doors in moss green. His prototype with the modular add on quilt using snaps is brilliant and I can't wait to be one of the first to try the setup!

I have two, one each in 20 and 40 degree range. They fit well on my GE hammocks and pack well. However, in my experience, they don't perform to their advertised temp range (at least for me). Example: a few weeks ago, it was projected to be around 43-45 overnight, so I took the 40 degree. Around 3 am, I woke to nature's call and upon returning to the hammock, could not get "warm" again. I wasn't cold, just cool. There was no gap between the the TW and the hammock, it just felt like the heat was seeping out through the insulation. I had a similar experience with the 20 degree one last March when the temps were right around 25 overnight.

The modular design sounds promising, but I'm curious if it actually presents a significant weight savings over just bringing two TWs.
