Recycling damaged gear (not worth repairing)

I have a Onetigris Roamer Lite pack that I bought about 18 months ago for $60 from Amazon. I've used it maybe a half dozen times, only twice for actual hiking. When I got home from a hike yesterday, I found one of the shoulder straps stitching had popped. I could possibly have it repaired if I found someone local capable of sewing it. But, it's a cheap pack, and the straps are sewn square, rather than angled. However, its made of a pretty sturdy and relatively light material.

I'd hate to just throw it out if someone could recycle the material into other projects. Are there any folks out there who take donations of this sort of thing?

CVKealey, there is a For Free sub-forum in the MarketPlace area (below the For Sale sub-forum and a couple of others). You might try to offer it - with the same problem description you put here. Another option might be … if you have an REI near you, often they find/contract with local people with the skill/equipment to fix gear. You could ask who they recommend. And sometimes, when they have their “garage” sale, they bring those repair people on site so they can do quick fixes if the used gear someone buys just needs a little stitch or two.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

A Speedy Stitcher sewing awl is a great investment for camping gear repairs. They're easy to use and I've repaired a lot of my oldest daughter's equine gear with one.
