Underquilt Suspension Question

Greetings Everyone

I finished my DIY climashield underquilt this afternoon. When threading the shockcord through the long edges I wondered how long to make them. As it is now, I used the full amount of shock cord (18') but that is before they stretch out when they will be hung.

For those that use full length shock cord suspension, how long was your piece of shock cord before it is stretched into place?

P.S. for the no pic didn't happen people, I am planning a field trip to test out my hammock gear and quilts that I made. So there will be pictures or a video forthcoming.

I don't have any numbers for you, but here's what I did.

I did like you, ran about 18' through one side, then back through the other side. Popped a cord lock on each end and just strung it up. Once I got it fitted right, I gave myself an extra foot of shock cord on the loose end, tied the ends together, and cut off the extra. The extra will be plenty to put cinches in the short sides.

So, no measuring, just going by the fit.
