    Tarp Ridgeline Questions

What kind of cord is suitable for a tarp ridgeline?

I have plenty of line from Ed Speer and some shock cord for prussics. Will this do the trick?

    Any recommendations on length?

The speer no tangle (although I have no experience with it) will work I now a lot of people use it. I Use 30 ft of cord. That gives me ten feet of play on both sides with 10 ft in the middle over my hammock. I use 10 ft tie outs.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

Just about anything will work. Just stay away from Nylon line. It will stretch to much. Ok for guy lines, but not so much for a RL.

Thanks. Made one last night and I like it.

Now, onto the new DIY hammock.

Any other ideas for guideline material? I bought some PMI 2MM cord from REI yesterday to start messing around with shock guidelines and ridgelines and am hoping to make that work.

That will work just fine. I was using PMI line prior to doing what I do now. I made STL's and a ridgeline out of it. Then I switched to reflective line for my guy lines.

Really anything works. The only reason I use what I use to sell is it can easily be spliced.

Opie, what type of line are you using? I was thinking of trying Zing It, as the strength/diameter size is incredible. It's a little spendy, but I'm sure great cord.

    Thanks for your help!

Thats what I use for the tarp ridge lines and guy lines. If you want to get creative with it you can splice it.
