    Question prussik knots!!!!

on my overnight hang, i tried to "slide the prussik knots" to get a taught tarp pitch and those things would not move, even after the tension was released any pointers on how to get them to slide a lil better????
i do not remember the question, however i believe beer is the answer

I had the same problem this weekend. I rotated the prussik around the line a bit which freed it right up.

I had the same problem lastnight setting up my tarp. I think my problem is the line I am using, it has a tar like substance on it. It is line that is used for setting trotlines.

You could try using fewer turns on the prussik itself or using a slightly bigger dia. cord for the prussik.

Try loosening the prussik wraps then slide it around a bunch, pull it back to a light tightness and keep sliding it back and forth. Not sure how much that will help long term, but it'll get you going for now.

Try unrolling it a bit. You can als do as suggested and remove one of the wraps.

    Yep,
what everyone has said before. When you put new line to work you have go through a little trial and error time, and more importantly break in the coatings. Especially on this new high tech stuff. Remember that a ridge line and tarp set-up doesn't require as much tension as people want to think it should get. Good question though. I believe it has happened to everyone...they just don't talk about it.
Thank you very much for bringing it up.

Not sure if your setup was like mine but I had this problem and it was related to difference in line diameter between the ridge line and the diameter of the prussik line. In my case if the line used to make the prussik was a very small diameter it would compress on to the larger diameter ridge line so much that it looked like it was digging in. My ridge line was also soft and very compressible so the prussik sort of crushed it causing sort of a lip on either end of the prussik. It was almost impossible to slide.
