Highland Rec, and the surrounding metro area state parks are not much for extensive hiking but there are some trails. Most of the park trails are 4 to 16 miles in length. I would not recommend them for camping myself but I do know there are people who do camp there. I prefer a bit more seclusion in my camp sites. But if you have any specific questions I have mountain biked all of the parks in the Detroit metro area and know the trails very well. Good luck, have fun

I would recommend Pinckney state rec. area for some other camping locations.
