Another one for 15 foot Dutch straps with beetle buckle. I switched from whoopies and tree straps. Much happier.

15 foot UL straps to CLs, and nothing else. A little over 2 oz. Good for both large trees and trees/posts too close together.

Big trees - it happens. This is on Tivoli Island in the middle of Ozette Lake in the NW corner of Washington State.

In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

I have several sets of straps in rotation, all between 12' to 15' in length. Literally never have I found myself wishing I'd brought shorter straps.

Have 15' and have been meaning to go down at least to 12' for quite a while now. The problem where I camp (eastern US) is typically trees too close together, not too big.

I did get pinched once at a campsite that was really open with sparse trees and had to max out the length. At that point, though, trying to get the tree wrap up high enough was as much of a problem as anything.

I like the idea of one long strap and one shorter, or carrying a dogbone or two. But yes, careful consideration of relative weight will be needed.
