I agree that the stock WBBB webbing suspension is about as simple to operate as it gets and very lightweight. I switched out to UCRs simply to reduce weight.

I just looked at whoopieslings.com .. you need a "tree huger".. a piece of webbing to go around the tree ?? then you tie the whoopie someway to the huger ?
I really need to see a youtube video on how those whoopies are tied to a tree..

Who cares about showers, gourmet food, using flush toilets. Just keep on walking and being away from it all.
There are times that the only way you can do something is to do it alone.
It's definitely about weight and to be sure a little bit of tinker factor for me, but it's also about ease of adjust-ability for me. I have a couple of Blackbirds with the webbing option, purchased back when they were shipping with the triangle buckles. They were always a hassle to use because of the safety knot, which for me was essential in order for the webbing to not slip. The whoopie slings are very simple to use and easy to adjust, and in my experience are bulletproof. I have not evaluated Brandon's new cinch buckles; perhaps they work better. Still, with what I have now I have no motivation at all to switch over to them. I suspect that they still require some precision in how the straps are threaded to get the right performance. I asked Brandon on one of my more recent Traveler purchases if he would consider shipping with whoopies instead, and he said it was too labor intensive for him to build the whoopies for his hammocks. Fair enough. I consider it a $14 upgrade that is well worth it for me.
I like to think it's cause they all like me and want to keep me around
But know it is really about playing with and customizing their hammocks how they want them to be. I like to save some weight and what the heck be one of the cool kids to.
