Why is everyone changing their suspensions?

It seems like the "factory" adjustable webbing suspension from WB is a great idea with little weight gain, especially when comparing it to the ease of use. Is there a reason people are changing it out with others? I keep hearing how great whoopie slings are, dutch clips, etc. are, but why switch to them other then to customize your setup?

Some setups save weight, some save bulk, or a combo of both. Tinker factor is appealing.

I still use the webbing with rings suspension on my Blackbird. Dutch Clips are simply a lighter simpler way to attach the webbing to trees than carabiners.

Webbing with the cinch buckles weighs more...'bout 4 oz...

AND "Whoopie Sling" is fun to say and fun to use.

AND if you don't have the webbing "permanently" attached, then the tree hugger straps don't need carabiners or Dutch Clips for even more weight savings (the webbing simply is inserted through the loop at the end).

Please don't misunderstand. I'm NOT knocking the webbing suspension, but you were asking for reasons why it would be changed out.

My dynaglide whoppies take up literally no space at all in my stuff sack with my wbbb. They also weigh about 1oz each. Check out the size after cinching my bb stuff sack:

For me its about bulk and weight. Of course for the DG's you gotta weigh less than 170 or so, if you weigh less than say 500 but more than 170 use the amsteel 7/64.

    ikemouser,

Nice work on the compression without spending money or overcompressing.

So save 2-4 ounces and the tinkering factor is what it seems to be. I figured people just enjoyed customizing their hammocks more then anything. Thanks for the help!
