    Best mattress for DL Ridgerunner?

    I've tried the following:

    - Thermarest Neoair Xtherm (Large)
    - Sea To Summit Ether Light XT
    - Klymit Static V Luxe Insulated
    - Klymit Static V Luxe Insulated SL

They all did ok, but I'm still searching for the -perfect- mattress for this use case.

    The main requirements for me:

    - Keeps the hammock as flat as possible
    - Has enough insulation to forego a downquilt most of the year
    - Isn't too noisy when shifting around
    - Large enough not to shift around inside the hammock (25-30" based on my experience)

Would love to hear some opinions from fellow DL Ridgerunner users, especially on rectangular pads, which I haven't tried yet. Cheers!

Exped ! I always find Exped pads to be really good. Baffles from head to toe.
I have an Exped Downmat XP. Good to -35F. But not too hot at other times really.
    Worth a look. Not cheap.

Thanks Shug! Do you feel the pad press on your shoulders once you're on it? That was my main gripe with the Klymit 30": it tends to fold like a taco unless inflated to the very max.

Is the -35 on the ground or in the Ridgerunner?

I ask because I found that a 3.2 r value in the Ridgerunner barely gets me to 40F.

I, too am experimenting with various pads in the RR. Right now I have the S2S Etherlight XT Extreme and Thermarast NeoAir XTherm MAX both rectangle ... Just waiting for cold enough weather to give them an actual test.

On the ground as per their website.

More than likely lose a bit in the hammock since the pad is in the air.

I have the Exped Synmat XP. I really like it. Fits perfect in the RR sleeve. Like Shug says "not cheap".

I don't but imagine that the quality is just as good as the down ones.

Ive had good luck with an old Thermarest Base Camp in my DL Ridgerunner. I still like a UQ, though.

I have used the Nemo Tensor Insulated wide sleeping pad for quite a few years and really like it. It packs up small and has kept me warm all by itself down to around 30 degrees. I have also paired it up with a 20 degree UQ and was comfortable somewhere between 0-10 if memory serves (certainly didn't feel like I was pushing it. In terms of comforts it has been wonderful. I originally got the UQ with the idea that I would use that instead of a sleeping pad but found a sleeping pad way more comfortable in a double layer RR.
