I just got back from a campout this past weekend and discovered a new approach to reduce the problems I've had with rain running down my straps and getting the ends of my hammock/UQ wet.
It was quite by accident, but in the morning I noticed that the foot end of my hammock was considerably drier then I expected given the rain that had fallen durnig the night. On closer inspection I noticed that I had mistakenly twisted the straps and saw that the water was running and dripping off well before it reached the cinch setup and drip strings.
I believe this removed a significant amount of what would have otherwise needed to be removed by my drip strings and helped alleviate the overflow situation that sometimes causes the end of the hammock to get wet inspite of everything I normally do to avoid it.
