Whoopie Sling on Fixed Strap in a channel

I'm lost. Or maybe I am just thick. I watched Opie's video on putting a whoopie sling thru the channel on a hammock.....but mine is a little different. I believe he is on vacation and I need to know.

The setup I have is a whoopie sling on a fixed strap, but I have never used this before.....should i larks head the channel with the fixed loop of the whoopie sling instead of the adjustable end since i am already hooked to the descender ring....

What I am looking for is this...but I can't see it in the video...running behind schedule...
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i421G...eature=related

I want to use my channel, and not do a tuft at the end...

Where am I going wrong? Any good links or vids?

    Thanks
    GNU

Best guess based on what I "think" you're looking for...

Take the fixed eye of the woopie and run it through the channel on your hammock. Then pass the rest of the suspension (strap and all) through the fixed eye, thereby creating a lark's head of sorts.

Basically there's not really a "wrong" answer, as long as it ends up attached to your hammock in a reliable manner.

I'm sure someone with more knowledge will chime in soon!

I have done that but want confirmation that I'm heading in the right direction before I test hang weight (me) in it tonite....don't want a catastrophic failure or anything.

Hah, I hear ya! The first time I got in my Clark after replacing the stock rope with Amsteel 7/64 I was VERY nervous... ditto my first hang on Woopie slings.
While I have never used a woopie with a fixed eye splice, I would think it should hold just fine! The fixed eye's purpose in life is to be an attachment point.
They do make me a tad nervous, I tend to like proven knots over the fixed eye splice, but that's probably just me being a weenie.

Thanks for the reassurance....i just let it all hang out and tested it...success! I will have to dial in tree spacing I suppose.....Thank you. This concludes the unscheduled freak out.
Oh man...ready to get it hung somewhere for 4 days and enjoy it.

GNU.. Sorry I missed your call. I got your VM and glad it arrived.

Sir is on the money with his suggestion. Fish the fixed eye through the channel then run the rest of the suspension through the fixed eye and pull tight.

Glad you got it hung up and its working out.

I'm in the process of ordering the all-in-one whoopie/straps with ring (will use a DC) for my new Switchback.

I have 2 questions (SB is at home and am not sure how it's attached to the bishop's bag so I'm trying to visualize). We're not sure if the ring will fit thru the hole. Even if I put the whoopie thru the hole, I'll still need to get the ring thru in order to pull it through. Has anyone done this?

Next question. Assuming I get this...how the heck to I store the whoopie/strap combo when hammock is not deployed?

Sandy... Simply wrap it all up around the bag.

If the hole is to small, then well need to revert back to your original plan.

    Yes, IMO you can.

However, the addition of a ring serves the same purpose as a drip string. You just need to have the ring under your tarp.
