    Transparent Tarp

I'm curious to see if anyone has ever used a somewhat transparent Rip-stop Nylon for making tarps? Tarps are a must have on several occasions, but I also want to see out into the trees as I sway to and fro. I was searching for a weather resistant material that would also be transparent and light weight. I came across this material. Has anyone else found anything that would fit this purpose, perhaps something more local?

You could always just leave the tarp stowed away when the weather isn't rainy....

The closest thing to what you're talking about is probably cuben fiber. It isn't quite transparent, though.

I think you may mean Cannibal's mylar tarp.

I don't recall how durable it turned out to be...?

    Well, my feelings are hurt.

I've got one made from a clear mylar that I ordered from a kite site (fun to say). It has some issues to be sure, but it's a tarp I enjoy taking from time to time. It's heavy(ish). It does not compress, lead has greater compression abilities. It also distorts the landscape significantly. If something is just on the other side of it, you can see clearly. If it is several feet away, you see a blob.

I never sleep in with this tarp, unless it is a heavily overcast morning.

Here are a couple of pics from my gallery with Genuine Draft modeling :

    I like this one.

Little bit over a year now (I think) and probably about 30 nights spent under it. Still holding-up very well.

I see how you are. I take some time away from HF and you guys forget all about me.
I'm obviously J/K. I'm lucky if I remember 0.05% of the posters of pictures on this site. There are just too many to keep straight.
