hang is scheduled for next weekend 2/10-2/12. Weather forecast looks warmer than this weekend but chance of scattered showers on Fri & Sat. Could be a chance of winter mix Saturday night if temp gets down to 32F. A couple of us are also hiking part of the area tomorrow but not camping.
I’m looking forward to this camping trip here’s the area I’m wanting to go explore if anybody wants to join me A256E5D3-F5A8-4FDB-A6B4-2D092D270A15.jpg supposly liqer springs outlaw den and painted rock is there

TomTom, where are you camping Friday night?
And where will you camp Saturday night?
I hiked to summit of Dark Mountain today, the trail is steep, and water is questionable. There might be water nearby, but I did not go down side of mountain to find creek that is marked on AllTrailsPro app.
Easiest water source for Dark Mountain is carry from car at trailhead.
There is a fire ring at the top, and some trees crying out for hammocks to grace their trunks.
And just for good measure I hiked to Jumping Off Rock. Phantom 2skeeeeerd to jump, but followed trail beside JOR all way down to creek.
Not sure if water is deep enough, and cleared of underwater obstructions.
Possibly drunk teenagers check out the Jump on hot summer days.
Aaaaaaiiiigght
It depends on who shows up where i camp. I might show up Thursday to sauter up dark mtn and look around and camp or camp at the campsite i originally had the intention of trying to at
. Then camp with the hikers unless people show up that don’t what to hike.

I know how to get to Uwharrie Trail and Poison Fork Creek, near Diane Woodell’s grave, via Poison Fork Road, about 6/10 mile west of Jumping Off Rock Trailhead, that is like a walk in the park!
It’s flat as a pancake, all way there.
The road section is the only hill, and it’s brief and not too steep.
Can camp on either side of Poison Fork Creek
Crossing creek might result in getting wet, if fall off rock stepping stones.
Camping by creek on near side, does not have as many hang spots as far side
Cross at your own risk.
Entrance to Poison Fork Road is blocked by a locked bar. It’s past Uwharrie Trail north entrance, and past roadside campsite shown in TomTom’s diagram.
I didn’t see any No Trespassing signs
It’s a 20 to 30 minute walk easy stroll!
We will all keep in touch and camp with main group possibly Friday night if not Friday and Saturday.
Getting closer to Friday. Hope all you Bigfoot junkies are ready for some Uwharries adventure!

So I guess it's like car camping if ya need something extra you can make a dash back but mostly pack your backpack.

I'm planning to come Saturday morning and head for Dark Mountain. Will have stash of water in the car. I know of one spring part way up. Something tom_tom said suggests there might be another. Mother Nature appears to be going to pee on us all weekend.
Currently, I plan to camp somewhere Sunday and possibly Monday nights. Have to be back at the beach before dinner time Tuesday.
Dang I wish I could go to this one. The wife has plans for me, so I'll have to pass. Hang loose y'all!
