    Who's doing the mod work?

Checking out all of my options, I have come up with yet another idea, and I want to compare cost effectiveness vs just buying a new setup...

    I have:
    HH Desert Rat, all original

    I would like:
    1. zipper mod added

    2. change out suspension to something lighter, more compact.

    My questions:

    1. who is doing this work?
    2. who does the best quality work?
    3. whats the cost of each of these mods?

Changing out your suspension is an easy DIY project, but you can buy them pre-made if you like.

Either AHE or WhOpie are very responsive, and will sell everything you need.

zipper mod is 2Q without hesitation. Swapping your suspension is an easy thing to do and you can do that yourself. There are a multitude of threads on the site that relate to that process.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

As I understand it, 2QZQ is the only game in town as for zipper mod work especially for the HH. And they are very good and reasonable.

As for suspensions, there are quite a few options out there- AHE is becoming a go to source for multiple hammock gear, including suspension, while Opie focuses on being the whoopie guru. Some of the Quilt or Hammock cottage vendors also offer suspension, but it is not their bread and butter. All is good and it pretty much comes down to who is the cheapest taking into consideration S & H too.

The cottage guys here pretty much do not need to worry about all the extra expenses of having a big business, so they can keep their prices lower and close to what it would cost you to purchase the raw materials and go the DIY route. Its a matter if you just want to order something or have fun making your own. The cottage guys do this because they love it. hehe that's awesome.

i would not hesitate to go the 2Q/ZQ route. i might also suggest you leave the bottom entry intact in case you need to use it in the height of bug season.

Loving the 2Q, really going to give that a good consideration before making a new purchase.

As for the suspensions... yea, I dont want to read 6 bazillion posts to find the easiest/lightest/least bulky...

Whats the better option for suspension for a HH? As for the tinkering and DIY... yea, Id rather just have someone do it for me while I go play with my table saw and riding mower...

There's not currently a place you mail your hammock for a new suspension. Mostly because it's so absurdly simple to do for yourself.

If you order some whoopie slings, tree huggers and perhaps toggles from either AHE or Opie they will provide simple directions for putting them on. Here's a video, even.

Oh,for heaven's sake! Somebody volunteer to fix her suspension for her! All this begging is unseemly.
