    I've just done it to my VW transporter. Its a short wheelbase, so I had to hang it diagonally.

    Like OG, I made a stand. Made it out of 2x3 in an upside down design which is self supporting into the corners and took me minutes to knock up. I've got 2.4 m/ just under 8ft to span. Pics to follow when I take my work tools out tomorrow.

    Guys awesome replies thank you.

    Hppyfngy - Good point on height being an issue, I never thought about that. Thanks.

    OG - Awesome picture thanks. That gives me an decent idea on how tight things shall be. In my lower height mini van it looks like the hammock will most likely be close to the ground once I'm inside. Am I correct in seeing that there is no real suspension on the ends of the mammock, the ends are just fastened to your hammock stand?

    You hammock is also taking most of the length of the van front to rear so even hanging on a diagnol from the corners of the mini van it might be a tight squeeze. Did you come up with a list of shorter hammocks to choose from that would make fitting in the van a bit easier?

    Walking bear - Thanks heaps for the inside dimension on space available. Very greatful since I'm in Thailand and the van is in the states. I've never laid in a bridge hammock but your point of being hung from all the corners is great insight. I'll begin reading about bridge hammocks to get my head around if they offer more or less comfort than my Warbonnet or Hennessy.

    Turnerminator - i'll be very interested to see your pics since you most likely have the same space limitations. Also get some of your stand as I'm curious with what you came up with. years ago i used to live in peterborough, small world.

    Awesome info, thankls heaps.

    The suspension doubles back, and hooks to the middle of the top bar. Here's a thread with pics:

    The Grand Trunk Ultra Lite hammock is shorter, but also narrower. Consider something like an ENO Double Nest, and just shorten it...there are a couple of easy ways to accomplish that.

    I used the ENO DBL inside my burb. Got about 5 inches clearance from the ground and it's back middle to front corner. Unmodded. Minivan has even higher clearance without the seats.

    I have one in my Suburban as well. I use it nearly every day for a lunchtime snooze.

    Heres the bad pics taken on my phone:

    Started with a studding frame;

    Free standing;

    Painted it and hung the hammock. I put angle supports on to give a bit of extra support.

    The Trekmates hammock is only 1m wide but its actually very comfy and hangs just right at seat level, its a stayer

    +1 Turnerminator.....I'm guessing the top being wedged into the angle keeps it from sliding out but what keeps the bottom from popping out. That seems pretty **** simple. Awesome.

    Now could you just get some large drywall toggle bolts

    http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CD0Q8gIwBA#

    and excahnge the bolt for an "I" bolt and attach the I bolt to the toggle to mount inside a hollow channel on the interior of the van.

    http://www.amazon.com/Bolts-Stainles...ata/B000KXY8VO

    in order o attach a "biner/cord/webbing onto.

    The 50 pound weight limit on the above bolt is because its assuming it shall be anchored into drywall. I'm sure mounting it into a hollow roof channel in the van would increase the weight rating dramatically.

    Any other ideas for easy mounting solutions inside a van?

    @ Dave & FTB

    Yeah it just wedges in. Like a Deadman for drywall ceilings. When its tight to the recess, the legs are pushed from the bottom to make them plumb. It gives enough friction on the van floor to stop everything moving.

    Looking from the back of the van, there is just enough room to push the bottom of the far post a little bit to the side to remove it easily. If it was tight to the side, it would be much more difficult.

    Thank heaven for quirky vdub bodywork
