I don’t know about other variations of multiple pile hitch, what I’ve shown in video, resists slipping in both directions, but direction shown, maybe a bit better.
Multiple pile hitch will not jam. It’s easy to tie and untie. And if loosened and slipped off end of pole or stake will instantly disappear!

It’s similar to Klemheist hitch, another slip and grip knot.
Yes maybe we’ve been on this thread a while, and each person must make up their own mind exactly how they want their setup to be. That’s the beauty of it, and each camper will contend with all pros and cons of their chosen rigging!

well, that's basically "almost a klemheist" (it's so close i doubt it makes much functional difference, when there's so many wraps). nevertheless, it takes pull in the opposite direction the op would want (although might be an interesting method to tie the klemheist, to keep handy if one wants to pull a stake out of the ground for instance). a knot to break camp rather than put up

Thanks! It's probably only been seen closed up when I'm hanging off it as a "one tree" type setup. When I built it back in `99 I had a couple rings welded to the back as attachment points specifically for hammocks.
