I thought that was called a hammock sock???? I bought one from Dutch years ago and have used it a few times when the temperatures were extremely cold. I made sure to leave the screen opening near my head or not extend the cover all the way to the head end of my hammock and didn't have any problems. But it was for one night of camping next to my truck. It absolutely helped with keeping the wind out. Usually, the most difficult thing with hammocks is keeping underneath warm. With ground sleeping it seems to be the opposite problem. I always get cold on the top when on the ground.

ebrainschmidt, I don't know which post this tread you are referring to - but the UQP just covers the underquilt though it often extends to the whole hammock body bottom area. A sock covers the whole shebang. So if someone is discussing something that is above their head and around the hammock, it's a sock. If it just covers the bottom, it's an underquilt protector.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

I read through the threads before responding and just got confused. I own both an underquilt protector and a hammock sock. Had no idea there was a tq protector.

I have from Molly Mac Gear a top and bottom protectors made from a fabric similar to DryDucks. Geez I’ve had them for 15 or so years. I especially used them when I took my Hennessy hammock with the small tarp and rain was forecasted. I forgot what they were called.
