Hammock Newbie From The Great White North

Newbie from Barrie Ontario saying hi to the hanging community. Spent about a year lurking and did my first hang in April this year in a Dramur XL Ultralight

Hooked now and wondering what to do with the dozen or so tents I own.

I want to apologize in advance to the lighter is better members as I’m the guy who brings too much. Lighter is better is a direction I am moving in slowly with my gear.

50 years camping experience and I’m a hardcore winter camper. I do bike trekking/hike in/canoe/boat/atv/snowmobile and pulk cold tent/hot tent trek in camping.

Much respect for Shug as the gold standard of cold tenting is at least 3 days at -40 or colder. If your not a popsicle once moisture load builds up in your gear, you got your kit together for sure.

Was not sure it could be done hanging, but I know know. Coldest trip -79F wind chill at the Moon River. Mother Nature basically kicked my arse that trip.

Have never slept so well ever in the bush though.

I am the sole member of the Continuous Monthly Camping Club. Sept trip was month 241
My goal is 300 months without missing a month consecutively.

    Take care

Welcome. 241 consecutive months of camping, that's great! I'd join the 300 month camping club, but not in those kind of temps!

Respect back atcha for 241 months in a row! Do you live in the bush?
And yes you will enjoy winter camping in a hammock with the proper UQ and all that. Love that long warm nights snooze.
Though I have not used my Amok for deep winter camping. I prefer a gathered end and serious UQ for that.

Welcome from another (relative) newbie, from Richmond Hill! I’m also a “bring too much” camper, currently working out reducing my packing list for the upcoming EGL outing to North Tea Lake next week.

Congrats on your streak, hope we can cross paths at some point!
