new tree hugger concept, shoot it down

Was thinking about something Griz said/posted once....something about using sticks, slats, something like that between the tree and the line as it goes around the tree to distribute the weight.
Now picture a ladder made of amsteel with plastic spacers spaced out ever so often (spacers free floating on the amsteel) depending on circum. of tree.
Since the amsteel is almost weightless (a bit of an exxageration) the weight depends on the spacer material.
    Thoughts?

I'm not picturing how what you're describing is different than this?

As light as Amsteel is, once you factor in the spacers, whatever hardware you end up with, if any, the bulk and weight will most likely be a wash when compared to a webbing TH system.

I made a large set of these. 2 8' lengths of shock cord, two sets of scrunchies, and 2 14' lengths of Amsteel. Tiny and weighed in under 3oz.

Is the 3- oz per tree or for a pair??

Curious. Have you tied them on a tree with a rope hugger and laying in the hammock?

I have these but they are ROPE...so I'm getting whoopies etc.

They are so simple to use with the aluminum toggle: Byer's Microrope.

Anyone actually test the rope to see if it was tree friendly?
