I am not skilled in hot tent stuff but I think you need to put the stove pipe on the stove

liner socks followed by plastic grocery bags, then the wool socks over that makes a huge difference for me. My feet may feel some clammy but are warm because the bags prevent evaporation from sweat which is a main reason for cold feet or a cold body for that matter

Arrive with a full tank of gas, then if you bail from hammock, and overnight campfire is cramping your sleep, maybe? possible to sleep in your car with engine running and heater on.
I do not know if this works and is safe.

I rely on my old standby…my flip wall calendar hasn’t been changed from August 2019. That vision is heat seared into my mind. Always nice and warm from my viewpoint.

As I’ve gotten into my seventies, I’m less able to tolerate freezing weather. Any cold weather hang could be my last, until Spring. I’ll do asbestos I can.

Anyone planning to bring a large water pot to keep on the fire?

I'll have a 5 gal. Igloo cooler full of spring water for general consumption. Some of that can go in a kettle on the fire, but I don't have a big pot with a tight fitting lid. One lesson learned at a past hang was that steel water bottles left near the coals without their plastic tops would remain liquid through the night (closed up), but tasted very smoky.

Other lessons from past hangs: expect the weather to change, don't wade Quebec Branch with your boots on (just heavy socks, then change socks at the far side), condensation under tarp varies with atmospheric conditions more than ambient temperature or exhalation, whatever you do don't run out of dry gloves when it's time to pack up and leave.

Note to self and PG: don't do something or avoid doing it because of a number.

One thing I learned is that if you have a big pot of hot water on or near the fire, make sure no one is getting ready to throw wood on or stir the fire when you take the lid off.
A metal dipper or something with a handle would be handy for taking water out. Then put the lid back on immediately.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

We can do this! Since I only have a 30 degree top quilt. I'm Bringing my large tent and Buddy heater. It has room for my bed a 5 foot table and room for a couple of camp chairs. I'll be brewing coffee inside for anybody who wants some. Come one come all. Lets have some fun.
