    Back home thawing out.
I had a 20 set, top and bottom quilts
Stacked with a zero set, top and bottom.
And to prevent feeling cold, I used 8 HotHands hand warmers Friday and Saturday nights.

Around 200am got too hot and put most hand warmers off to the side. Then around 500am added them back into my various pockets

Got a learning experience this weekend, I need boots better suited for sub zero temperatures

And Friday and Saturday used insulated bib overalls. That helped lots.

I do have some pain in fingertips, gonna research to find if I was starting to get frost bite. Hopefully not serious.

I always thought, I’d get smarter as I got older——nope, no way.

Much thanks to Homemade Hiker, Chappy, Jim, Bob, and Hickery, for cooking up a storm and having hot water and coffee.

Shug, good luck recovering from surgery

And thank you Marci, for keeping park open for us.
We could have been booted outa there! And thank you again for plowing campground roads.

What an adventure y'all...what a wild ride...when's the next one...?

With this being my first group hang it was quite the eye opener, and as someone put it "heckuva one for me to cut my teeth on". I learned alot about myself and my gear, I'm excited to get back out there next time with all the little knowledge nuggets I picked up this weekend. (also side note, i'm not lookin to personally break the temp record set this weekend...whew...)

Thanks all who attended or had a part in setting this up. I ended up meeting some amazing people this weekend, it was just a spectacular adventure that wouldn't have been the same without you!!!

As I heard someone say over my shoulder as I shuffled through the snow to my truck, "i'll see ya in the woods...."

Hey,how bout that heated port o john ! Was good to see so many old friends and making a few new ones. I think we had 20 hangers in all, just not all there at the same time. I commend all of yall for having a hearty soul. We all pulled through it together. It was a tuff but good time. I think everyone learned something and we had some good campfire discussions. Thanks to all that contributed to the raffle and made a donation. It raised $780. Minus $230 for johnny . Will send $550 to The Friends of GHSP. Well done !We sure had a beautiful day to pack up on Sunday. Some of us hung around till 2pm to enjoy it. Thanks to all the Park staff for helping it to happen. Thanks to Slowhike for co hosting and do all the work on the forum. He is responsible for the Park letting the group have this event in the campground .. More to follow......

    Well Guys,
That was one for the books for me! Had a great time, met some new friends, and learned a lot about winter rigs.
Based on the great suggestions posted here, my setup was perfect, snug, and warm allowing me good sleep in my usual “sleeping attire”. However, my struggles came during the daytime. Not having proper footwear was my downfall. Thankfully between the fire and basic moving, I was “aaaaight”

Thanks to Hickery and Slowhike for the event and to Marci and her team for allowing us “Real Men of Genius” to enjoy Grayson Highlands State Park during such a beautiful snowy weekend.

Here is a short collage for those not able to attend.

Biggest thanks goes to Hickery for all the equipment he brings to this hang. Thanks to the set up and tear down crew as well as those who hauled out trash bags. And thanks to those who enjoy cooking.

Splendid video WolfPackOne; it captured this 96 hour winter hang in less than 7 minutes.

It was great to see many familiar faces and meet a few new ones.

Taking advantage of car camping by packing plenty of base, mid and outer layers worked like a charm. Fresh undies, socks and long johns every day with fresh mid and outer layers every other day keep me warm and comfortable. Sorting through this clothing at home I'm still finding a fair amount of moisture still remaining in them. Find out what works best for you.
