Winner of “Purdy Boil” contest spring 2024 is
Richard Rendawg Nance.
Second place Bob Joyride Petit
Third place Hickery Kent Hicks
Fourth place Kris Mama Bulla, she is now reigning Ladies Champion
At first Rendawg’s stove started to go out, then when he was relighting stove, his pot stand fell off the stove. Richard caught his pot just in time to keep it from falling over.
Then he reached bare handed into aluminum pan near flames to retrieve pot stand parts, and rebalance on still burning alcohol stove.
All the while everyone else’s stoves burned onward.
Richard had some sort of heat exchange and windscreen combination built around his pot.
Mama Bulla got a phenomenal finish, considering she used a Fancy Feast stove and a small titanium mug. She would have been in the running to place among the others or higher—-she competed with no windscreen, and there was a breeze
Thank you Shug for your world famous quote in Karl Childers voice
“Oohh, that’s a Purdy Boil”
I thank you all for hammock camping at Yates.
And especially campers who went above and beyond to make our hang Yates
Yes, I thank all of you who stepped up to make this a great camping trip.
The camaraderie round campfire under tarp during rain, was second to none.

Slugger, when you move to Maryland to be closer to your precious granddaughter and daughter, you will be missed.
Slugger, come back to Yates anytime, even without your pop up canopy and griddle stove. Bring your hammock and mug.
Slugger, You are Yates
