    integrated continuous loops

I was perusing the Simply light designs offerings and saw the Trail lair has an option for the continuous loops to be built in the hammock end channels. Does this actually change the lay of the hammock, possibly reducing calf ridge? Anyone ever tried this method for continuous loops? The weather is not cooperating in my area, just had some thunder snow come through.

You could try it by using a soft shackle.

On the streamliner (cat cut) this definitely makes a difference, not sure about the trail lair

Great question. I had the same. I'm looking forward to the responses from trail lair users.

What kind of difference does it make?
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

    That's a great idea.

Maybe the uncinched loop allows the ends to ride wider. Weather is less than ideal for testing right now but looking forward to trying it out.

I honestly don't remember, they're all setup this way. I tried this based on a thread here many years ago and liked it enough to continue rigging this way. Integrated loops keep the end from cinching tightly for sure. I think it helps achieve a, slightly, flatter lay in the streamliner although it's somewhat finicky because the RL doesn't stay in place. The loops on the RL move around on the CL, not a big deal just something to be aware of when setting up. When/if I get a chance soon I might rerig one and report back.

Having made more than a few soft shackles, continuous loops are much easier to splice. I would remove the CL and splice one in the end channel, if you don't like it cut it off.

If the end channel is wide enough, poke the continuous loop through it and gathering the hammock end as you go. Then put one end of the CL through its other end and tighten. I did this on my indoor hammock and it is very comfy.

That larks heading is what's being avoided by having the CL made while already through the channel.
It's about whether the hammock spreads out better it it's not cinched up like that at the end.
