I read in one of the hammock gear reviews that they have a new version of their uq coming out soon. Does any one know anything about this? Is it an updated incubator ? A new design? Release date?

FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

I was looking at an Incubator at the Euro Hang Con and noticed it did not have the leg shelf design. Maybe an early one out already. My Norwegian friend had it.

Thanks Shug! Heres a reply I just got from hammock gear.IMG_0414.jpg. Im wondering if there would be less fiddling with the new uq, to avoid cbs etc? I wonder how it differs from other rectangular quilts such as the jrb mw series? ( just thinking out loud.......)

Interesting. I also note that the reply in that message says they'll make a wider version upon request. I do have a wider than standard Incubator that I bought several years ago; but last time I inquired (2-3 years ago probably) I was told they were no longer offering to do custom widths. (It just slows down production I think, they have really streamlined their production process).
You are correct, Stevebo. We are releasing "The Hearth" underquilt very soon. In fact it is currently available on the website but we have not pushed out the marketing for it because we are waiting for some better pictures to be taken. The Hearth does have a much simpler design. The Incubatore (the design of which I am still quite proud of) goes a long way towards decreasing the instances of CBS....but it works best when the situation is ideal. Meaning that it is hung correctly and that the user is primarily a back sleeper. We know that is not always the case and so some people tend to have a harder time making it fit. The leg shelf works great but the nature of its design makes it also a bit narrow and so it can have a tendency to slip off during the night if the sleeper is too active...even with the hooks that stabilize the suspension lines.
Long story short. The Hearth will be symmetrical along both the length and width axis. 40in wide and 78in long. This should help keep it from slipping off and (as Shug mentioned) simplify the setup for a bunch of people. The other positive is that it is less time consuming to construct. Less labor means it cost less to build and we should be able to pass that savings onto our customers. . Here is a sneak peak that is currently for sale.
