Sleeping in my Chameleon with zip on Jacks quilt. Does it make sense to pack it up in the morning with the quilt still attached? Not sure it will fit in either stuff sack I brought but will find out.

Leaving the quilt on and stuffed in the bottom of a pack or in an Anaconda works great. The key is to remember to shake and fluff the quilt up each time you hang it.

My daughter's chameleon had a first failure the other day. We also use the beetle buckle straps and they finally wore out the continuous loops that hold the end of the hammock together. While she laughed when she ended up on the ground I should have known to check them more often.

We now both have an extra set of loops in our packs so that if they ever start looking wore again we will just replace them instead of waiting for them to fail.

Good luck - great hammock overall. So many great options to choose from these days.

Any chance you took some photos of the failure? I'm wondering what happened to see if there's something we can learn from your situation.

I've had a Beetle Buckle start to fray my CL before. After that I went back to Beckett hitches and made some soft shackles.

Iceman, the sharp edges of her Beetle Buckles wore out the continuous loop. It was just a lot of fraying over and over

Could you file down those edges on the Beetle Buckles to make them smoother?
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.
