How would the bag be that much of an advantage over the ribbon ties?

Better protection of the net and more out of the way ... completely out of the way actually.

Especially since it's all the way down in the end in the peak of the hammock instead of along the edge

    Gotcha. Thanks Michael.

Does that seem to be the only advantage over the #2 mod?

Well actually the ability to have that open at any point zipper like the #3 mod is a huge advantage to me. So I guess you can say it's got the advantages of the #2 and the #3 plus some.

The 2QZQ team (and they are a great team) have really knocked it out of the park with this concept.

    This is a big 10-4!

I'm really looking forward to the first pictures of Hawk-eye's hammock with this new mod. I think a LOT of questions will be answered when Tim/Donna post the pictures and new mod diagram on their website.

Tooth zippers would work evidently, but the guy was pretty adamant that coil zippers would not work.
It's not going to happen Randy. To make it work with coil zippers you would need two individual sets of zippers, one set for the bugnet, one set for the top cover. It would end up looking like a tent door.

More detail on why this won't work, please.

I can take a wal-mart sleeping bag with a cheap coil separating zipper and zip it to itself or zip it to another bag with no problem. What makes the bugnet/top-cover application different?
