    Hanging in my Warbonnet Traveler

I went to Cheaha State Park with a church group In Talladega Alabama April 16- April 18. I hung in my Warbonnet Traveler. I used a Hex Hennessy Tarp which I purchased from a member on this forum. I also used a walmart sleeping bag. I slept in my clothes and wore a hat. I have a double so i used a walmart sleeping pad (the egg crate kind). I was comfortable. I spent two nights in the Traveler. I was comfortable both nights.

Here are some pictures that I took before breaking it down Sunday morning.

The trees were not far enough apart for me to make my tarp taut. I tried an under the ridgeline setup but the tarp would have hung too low.

Pictures from my first time sleeping in my Traveler overnight.

I have some pictures from when I slept in my Traveler for the first time. I wasn't entirely comfortable because I had a heavier and bullkier sleeping bag. In addition I was too close to the street in my subdivision so I didnt sleep soundly. That time I was able to do the under the ridgeline setup. Thanks to the Hammock Forum for that little tidbit.

This is the view from the street. I hung my equipment bag and I had an extra pad that I stored underneath the hammock.

You can see how close to the street I was and the under the ridgeline tarp setup.

Here you can see the bulky sleeping pad and the egg crate pad that I used

Glad you had a good trip and were comfy!

Curious - why hang the tarp so loosely?

It wasn't by choice to hang the tarp loosely. The trees were not far enough apart for me to stretch the tarp. When i hung the tarp under the ridgeline in my yard my tarp was not hung as loose. I had the distance that I needed.

Oh, I just looked at the pictures again. It was windy that night and one of the stakes came loose. I was going to take down the hammock and tarp so I didn't bother to put the stake back

ok i admit there have been times when i wrapped the tarp around the tree to get a tight pitch...hated doing it but was too tired to search for other trees

Well obviously you're going to have to invest in an Acme Tree Stretcher ... I mean all us Old Guys carry one!

Cannibal has a complete set of 12 ... Tinker made his own of course ... and Shug ... well his has one wheel, Grizz has one but it works of quantum physics, Mac's has a system of PAL's in plaid, Slowhike's comes in a 9mm, Ken's uses a staub, Stormcrow carries his in his nose, 2Q's has a zipper in it, Hanging Burrito's smells like Peanut butter and pork fat, Runny Feather's looks like Claude Rains when you angle it just right .... there are others ... but well you definitely need to get one!

    Ignore me ... I ain't quite right.

Hey Hawk, while you are still around China think you could help me source a few of them stretchers cheap? Been looking but all the domestic made ones are just to spendy.

And here I thought i was the only one that wouldn't give up on my chosen piece of dirt, that was between my chosen two hanging trees.

    Happy trails!

BTW-Paul when you get those tree stretchers in stock, please send me a PM will ya bud?

we'll be hanging in GSMNP this weekend contrasting to the hang 2 weeks ago in the Francis Marion and the Santee Coastal Reserve...will actually have a hanger with us this time...can do a short vid if any body is curious but hate to push subpar videojournalsim on a crowd that has tasted the likes of shug and Griz.
I'll be in the Traveler--maybe risky with bugs since i have no netting but i do have deet and skin-so-soft. It'll be my first time in a Traveler in the real world and not near the house so I'm excited.
