    newbie in utah

For a couple of weeks now i have watched every video on the internet about hammock camping and thanks to shugs videos, im ready to take the plunge, or should i say the comfortable side of backpacking and camping with a hammock set up. I even bought the "hammock camping" book by ed speer(great book does anyone else have any more recommends?). Looking at buying the grand trunks double hammock. i figured since im married and have a kid, i can justify spending some dough on a family item for camping due to its over sized and good weight capacity. I want to thank everyone for all the info they share within this site and i am super excited to get on board.

Welcome to HF! This is a great spot to learn all things hammock. What area in Utah do you live? I grew up in PG and St. George and have family there. Lots of great places to hammock.

I'm from PG too and am also new to the hammock thing. I've made a DIY hammock and stuff sack. I've ordered some amsteel to make some whoopie sling suspensions. If there's any info I should know about it let me know.

Where in PG did you grow up?

Great job on the DIY hammock! Simple end-gathered hammocks are pretty simple, and a great way to get into hammocking without too much investment.

Let's see if I can remember my old address -- I think it was 1400 N, near the canal. My backyard was the foothills near "G" mountain and I have fond memories of hiking with my brothers in the brush. I think new homes have been built up in that area above the canal now. I still have a lot of family up in PG; my grandparents live on 100 S., near downtown (inside the old PG fort).

Good luck on your other DIY projects!

That's great. Did you go to PGHS?
Can't we all just 'Hang' along?
