Well its encouraging that they would consider making a special order, even if only in bulk. I like that multicam better than any cam I've seen. I'd commit to 20 yd and possibly as much as 50 of 30D sil if enough folks were to make this happen.

    price.

Any chance of getting a rough price for 5k yards?

I bet there's alot of people here that would be willing to commit to 50-100yards+ if the price were $2-3yard...

I'd be down for 100 in that case.

My guess is the price would be toward the high end of what we see for silnylon since this is a special batch run. $10/yd+ wouldn't surprise me.

I'm hoping my email might spark an interest in them to look into the camping market. Due to the success of Multicam, it won't be long before they expand their product to tap into the camping world.

from a piece in BP, spoken in first person as the bear. Seems the bright color issue was more of a concern in the Tundra. Hard to hang there.

"Since most outdoor apparel and tents comes in neon-bright colors, does this mean you should ditch everything and re-outfit with Rambo camo across the board? Probably not: I seem to be most attracted to bright colors in wide open tundra, not in forested environments where visual cues are less important. Like our Gear Pro says, if you're following proper bear procedures (making noises, stowing anything that smells in a canister away from camp), my desire to skedaddle will likely overwhelm any interest caused by your neon yellow Gore-Tex. That's what I was going to suggest also. Spreading the word on a GB may get us the material in the long run but it will mostly likely be $10-15/yd as Knotty suggested. Multicam anything is more expensive due to the proprietary pattern. So for a 5yd cut you'd probably be looking at $50-75. That's my conservative estimate but I would like to hear it from the horse mouth what they estimate the cost would be. Hopefully I'm wrong on my estimate but we really need a hard number from Duro before moving out a GB thread.

FireFly, see if you can get a base price /yd from them. That would help us know whether we're wasting everyone's time. Because if it's over $20/yd it wouldn't be cost effective for me.

There are other backpacking forums, survivalists boards, an ATV jamboree announcement in my email. BPL has threads for group buys for cuben, event, momentum. There are vendors.

    I have started enquiries.

It is not only 30D silnylon, there are other fabrics of interest.

I think we could post a poll, asking for interest. Name a per yard price.

The setup the first time for a fabric is the "hurdle".

Duro has named their "economic order quantity" for them to come out for their setup costing.

I would say, show them present wholesale and retail prices, by asking around, for the same grade silnylon for the price point they will have to reach. Show them numbers: here is results of polls in each market, here is the range of prices.

I think if Duro saw a market, the price would be a good price.

The question is: what other forums do you know? What vendors do you think would want to have some to work with to develop a product? poncho? tarps? tarp tents? all the present 30D silnylon products?

I am going to figure out how to put up a poll at one forum and continue to send "PM's" to see how much interest there is, to tell Duro, as well as, help put together the first order for outdoor's enthusiasts.

I know I am interested. Multicam is a unique: it adjusts its appearance to fit the environment.
