Cool Down booties + 2/3 UQ

hey everybody out there in hammock wonderland, i was wondering if anyone had experience with using down botties instead of a bad with a 2/3 or 3/4th or 1/2 uq. Not being a big fan of pads, this may be a way for me to save some weight while still staying comfy. So chime in with the weight of your down booties/uq combo if you want to. Or just tell me your experiences with a setup like this. thanks everybody

Yea but those thread don't have any commentary on swapping them for a pad during use with a less than full uq. What im after is people who use uq's that are not full length, and use down booties instead of pads for their feet.

The down would compress anywhere your feet touch hammock and you would still need to cover the legs from the knees down. I am not a pad fan either but a small pad under the legs is easy to manage compared to longer ones. Plus it is a good idea to have a pad for backup.

I have used down booties in my TQ with a pad beneath my feet ..... my feet got cold around 4AM ...... I did wear the booties around camp BUT I think my feet got too hot and sweated too much.
I always have better luck with 2 pair of socks and the JRB down sleeves if needed.

what i did on my last hike was put my Patagonia down sweater in the footbox of my quilt to help keep my feet warm....

but in the winter time i use a small pad i call the Jpad ...
i put the jpad in my footbox of my quilt ...this way hen i move around at night the pad doesn't slip away...it's not a big pad either...maybe 12x20
then i stick all my extra cloths in between the layers of my dbl layer hammock
worked good in 11 degree weather

and i can use it as my sitting pad in camp so it has more then one use...

only other thing i can tell ya is make some synth booties...
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

WHy synth greenlespaul, why not down? Anyway, i've used my montbell thermawrap on my feet before and that was nice. Im thinking thermawrap + down booties + no sniv tq and uq outta be enough down to 10-15F. i slept comfortable in 20F with just a thermawrap and the 2 no snivs and my smartwool socks.
