I'm sitting here, tearfully contemplating life without Speer No Tangle line.

I'm sure with a little searching one can find:

1/16" spectra core with nylon sheath, 275 lb breaking strength, highly visible bright orange, no tangles.
I'm more surprised that the Speer Winter Tarp with be dropped from the product offerings.

    Cheers

My guess is he meant 'best first' the same way I would. The SnugFit was my 'first' full length UQ. It remains my 'best' full length UQ IMO.

The first commercially available UQ was the JRB Nest...It is still a great quilt, some 18 up grades later and probably the best selling under quilt.

On a different note...Congrats to both Ed and Karen and John and Darby... I'm sure that they will all benefit from this merger, as will the hammock community.

Could be. Regardless, it's a great design and, like I said, it permanently changed the underquilt market.

With all the new vendors making products now, it's nice to see the veteran cottages still standing out. People often post about their great experiences with the new guys, but it's more rare for folks to post that JRB and Speer still do same-day shipping, spend lots of time on the phone with potential customers, etc. So when an enduring design comes from a veteran maker, it's a great thing!

I hope this one comes back into production at some point.

You won't find the Speer no tangle line for sell at the usual places any longer. Ed told me at Trail Days 2 years ago he has the line custom made by Yale Cordage because they stopped producing it as a standard item.

I have two spools of the same stuff purchased 5 or more years ago at West Marine. It was made by Yale Cordage, called Pulse Line. I have a spool of 1/16 just like Ed's line and a spool of 3/32 which is purple in color, other wise just the same as the Speer no tangle line.

It is described as Double braid - UHMWPE core fiber / polyester cover.

link to an 2007 description of Pulse line.

However, from the announcement statement, I did not get the impression that the no tangle line would no longer be available. I think it will be.

Now I have 2 things to be sad about.
    1. I never got that snugfit
    2. I never asked out Deana Anglemire from the 5th grade.

Maybe I can still get both on the used for sale market.
